Finca Verde is an agroecological farm located in the rainforest behind the Miravalles volcano. Sustainable rural tourism is a development opportunity for small communities. Tourism projects in these rural environments are operated by families from the same community who employ local labor generating jobs for their residents. These projects generate a direct chain of the local economy, benefiting everyone.
On the farm we carry out an educational activity focused on efforts to preserve the forest that was used for agriculture in the past and today has been regenerated as part of an important biological corridor that connects with the Tenorio volcano national park, allowing the passage of species from one place to another. This is an ideal activity to see the sloths, emblematic species of the rainforest. Other species that are frequently seen are frogs, birds and monkeys. During the activity the visit to a butterfly garden is also included. The trail has a length of 0.6 miles and its duration is approximately 2 hours.
After lunch we will visit Tree Chocolate Tour, another rural project focused on the cultivation of cocoa, this will be a very sweet and educational experience.
A total tour of 1:30 will show the cultivation of cocoa and coconut trees.
